The Effect of Acetazolamide on CSF Production in the Man

Abstract
In order to observe the changes of the intraocular pressure and the coefficent of a aqueous outflow facility with subconjunctival injection of Depo-Medrol(Upjohn Co.) in human and rabbit, the serial electronic tonometry was performed. In the human, the follow-up checks were performed on 1st, 5th, 10th, and from 40 to 50th day after the subconjuoctival injection and in the rabbits, on the 5th, 15th, 25th, 50th, and 118th day after the injection.
The mean value of the intraocular pressure and the coefficient of aqueous outflow facility in the normal rabbits were 23. 3mmHg and 0. 236 respectively, In the rabbits, the effects of subconjuncti¡©val Depo-Medrol injections on aqueous outflow facility were vague and irregular except for the Po/c Ratio changes. In the rabbit group B which were injected with 20mg. of Depo-medrol, it showed a significant decrease in Po/c Ratio on the 5th day but the subsequent increase was much lesser
than group A.
The human eyes showed a slight increase in the coefficent of aqueous outflow facility on first day after the subconjunctival injection of Depo-medrol and showed subsequently significant decrease thereafter.
There were no remarkable changes of intra-ocular pressure in human group and so, the Fo/c ratio appeared to be increased along the follow-up courses except for the first day¢¥s minute decrease
